Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the final price after multiple discounts?
When multiple discounts apply, they're typically calculated sequentially. Our calculator first applies item-level discounts, then any additional percentage/fixed discount, and finally coupon codes. This is how most e-commerce sites work. For example, if you have a ₹1000 item with 10% item discount and a 20% coupon: ₹1000 → ₹900 (after 10%) → ₹720 (after 20% coupon).
How is GST calculated on discounted items in India?
In India, GST is calculated on the transaction value, which is the actual price paid after all discounts. If you buy a ₹1000 item at 20% off, GST is calculated on ₹800, not ₹1000. This calculator correctly applies GST after all discounts are deducted.
What's the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?
CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) together equal the total GST rate and apply for sales within the same state. For example, 18% GST = 9% CGST + 9% SGST. IGST (Integrated GST) applies to interstate sales and equals the full GST rate. This calculator shows the CGST/SGST split for intrastate transactions.
Should I always try to get free shipping?
Not always! Do the math: If shipping is ₹50 and you need to add a ₹200 item to qualify for free shipping, you're spending ₹150 more than necessary. However, if you only need to add a ₹30 item, you save ₹20. Use this calculator to compare both scenarios before deciding.
Can I use multiple coupon codes together?
Most retailers only allow one coupon code per order. However, you can often combine coupon codes with item-level sale prices and bank card offers. Our calculator simulates one coupon code but allows unlimited item-level discounts to reflect real shopping scenarios.
How do I calculate savings percentage?
Savings percentage = (Total Savings ÷ Original Total) × 100. For example, if original total was ₹2000 and you saved ₹400 through discounts: (400 ÷ 2000) × 100 = 20% savings. This calculator automatically computes this for you.
Is this calculator accurate for all online stores?
This calculator uses standard discount and tax calculation methods used by most e-commerce platforms in India. However, some stores may have unique rules (like capping discounts, excluding certain items, or applying tax before discounts). Always verify the final amount at checkout.
