Does the waste allowance include starter and ridge cap?

Not necessarily. Dedicated starter and ridge-cap products are measured by linear coverage and should be estimated separately using the main Roofing Calculator.

What does the bundle subtotal include?

It multiplies whole field-shingle bundles by the price entered. It excludes tax, delivery, accessories, labor, tear-off and disposal.

Shingles are purchased as whole bundles, so the final division must always round up. This calculator first adds the selected waste allowance to the measured roof area, then divides by the installed coverage of one bundle.

Worked example

1,800 sq ft roof, 10% waste, 33.3 sq ft per bundle

The order area is 1,980 sq ft. Dividing by 33.3 gives 59.46 bundles.
